A long time Sports Center anchor and ESPN personality, Stuart Scott, passed away on 4th Sunday. He was diagnosed in late November of 2007. Scott went through Chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Scott was known for his enthusiasm and ubiquity. ESPN President John Skipper said in a statement the Scott was "a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure." and that his " energetic and unwavering devotion to his family and to his life left us in awe, and he leaves a void that can never be replaced."
Stuart Scott was born in Chicago, went to a high school in North Carolina, and graduated from the university of North Carolina in 1987. Scott was a sports reporter for a couple years before he joined ESPN in 1993. In 2001 he returned to Chapel Hill as the University's commencement speaker. Stuart Scott accepted the award named for a former M.C. State coach Jim Valvano, who died of cancer in 1993.
Scott said " When you die, that doesn't mean that you lose to cancer... you beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live, so live: Live. Fight like hell."
This man was an inspiration to a lot of people when it comes to fighting cancer. He did not just let it rule his life, he ruled his life. Cancer is a sad thing to talk about , but he took it in the best way. Scott wanted to fight for his life while living his life.
Even though he passed away does not mean he lost his battle to cancer. He lived his lifer happy and successful. So by the definition of how you lose to cancer. Scott won his battle by how we lived his life. He fought hard to defeat cancer.
